Sony Digital Reader

The Sony Digital Reader is a 3G wireless digital reader offered by one of the world’s premier makers of digital devices. With this small, lightweight reader, you can take your favorite reading material on the go with you. It has several key differences over other similar wireless digital readers.

Three Models

The Sony Digital Reader is available in three models. The Reader Pocket Edition offers a small size that could slip into your coat pocket, with just a five-inch display and the ability to hold up to 350 books. The Reader Touch Edition has a slightly larger six-inch screen with touch screen technology, allowing you to turn pages by just swiping your finger across the screen. The Reader Daily Edition is the largest of the three, with a seven-inch screen and easy to use controls as well as touch screen navigation. Both the Reader Touch and the Reader Daily models allow for extra storage space using memory cards.

Features of the Sony Digital Reader

All three of the Sony Digital Reader models share common features. They offer easy-to-see screens with the 16 shades of gray e-ink. Users can choose between six different font sizes for comfortable reading. All are thin, with the Sony Daily Reader measuring just over half of an inch thick and weighing less than 13 ounces.

The Sony Digital Reader automatically adjusts from portrait to landscape format when you rotate the device. It is optimized to work well for reading newspapers and periodicals. In fact, The Daily Reader is the premier digital reader for The Wall Street Journal¸ which offers its subscribers who use the Sony Digital Reader exclusive content alongside daily updates.

Periodicals and other media are downloaded from Google Books, the ReaderStore, and many other content delivery websites, making it much easier to find a hard-to-find book with the Sony Digital Reader than with other digital reading devices. It even has an application that allows you to check out digital books from public libraries. This means you can access millions of free public domain titles on the device, saving you money as you enjoy your reading material.

The Sony Digital Reader features unique advanced reading features. The built in The New Oxford American Dictionary, a highlighting feature, and a built in keyboard allow users to take notes, look up unknown words, and even highlight text while they read. These advanced reading features make reading with the Sony Digital Reader almost the same as reading a paper book.

The Sony Digital Reader supports multiple formants. In addition to the traditional book format, it supports PDF, MS Word, BBeB, and many other text formats. Unsecured MP3 and AAC audio files can be played back using the device as well.

With the vast amount of content available through the Sony Digital Reader, as well as the advanced features and ease of use found in the device, it is likely to take the world of portable digital reading devices by storm. The three different formats ensure that you can find a Sony Digital Reader that fits your needs and reading preferences, making it a truly versatile reader.
